Whistler’s Mountain Bike is considered by many to be THE premiere mountain bike park, and the famous North Shore of Vancouver is only a short drive away. Add to that the fact that Squamish, well-known for its quality bouldering, is right next to Whistler and you’ve got the recipe for a mandatory road-trip. We drove all the way from San Diego, stopped to visit Mike and Adina (Judy’s cousin) and their Golden Retrievers, Ruby and Max, in Vancouver, WA, and then did a short bike ride just outside of Seattle. From there, it was on to the North Shore, where an “intermediate” trail provided plenty of challenge. Whistler’s Mountain Bike Park lived up to its reputation (receiving Ryan’s rare “Excellent!” rating), Squamish’s hard problem ratings humbled us, Judy auditioned for the Whistler Circus, and we fine-tuned our tight-rope walking skills at Pemberton. Specialized Enduro Expert

Well, my current cross-country mountain bike (Specialized FSR-XC Pro) probably won’t last too long on our upcoming trip to Whistler so I needed to get something that would. I looked at a bunch of bikes and eventually decided on this one. Here are some pics of the bike brand new as well as right after its maiden voyage. It rides great, but more importantly, it looks cool! :-)
