Originally posted to RohJuh.com on Sep 13, 2003. We had heard that there’s some good bouldering at the top of Mt. San Jacinto so we decided to check it out. Ryan was going to go with us, but bailed the night before because his wrist was feeling kind of sore. No one else wanted or could go. This turned out to be a good weekend to go since it was the Palm Springs Tram’s 40th anniversary. As a result, all tickets were 40% off of the regular price of $20 pp. It was stifling hot at the base, but a very pleasant 75 or so at the top. Judy had printed out a map of the area, but being unfamiliar with the area, we wandered around a bit looking for the climbs. We were able to find plenty of climbs, however, and the rock was a really nice granite that didn’t tear up the hands like so many other outdoor climbing areas.
