While Judy had gone backpacking twice last year during her short hiatus from work, she nevertheless looked forward to this trip as well. Brian helped suggest a route that started in Tuolumne Meadows, goes past Cathedral Lake, and through the Sunrise High Sierra Camp (HSC). There, we had the option of either camping at the HSC or continuing on and camping at or near one of the three Sunrise Lakes. We opted to find a more secluded campsite by the Sunrise Lakes, and were able to find a great one. After a very cold night where the temps dropped down to 18F or so (thank you Feathered Friends sleeping bags!), we continued on up to Cloud’s Rest where we were greeted with a fantastic view that gave us our first glimpse of the famous Half Dome. This product is the culmination of a lot of hard work by the TiVo team, and I’m excited, not only in the product itself, but because it’s shipping with my baby – the substantially redesigned Series3 remote control which represents the fruits of my labor over the past many months. The new remote still has the iconic peanut shape, but numerous improvements make this remote even better than the already outstanding Series2 peanut remote. These include: - Fully backlit keys. Originally posted to RohJuh.com on Sep 4, 2006. Humboldt has been on our list of places to visit for some time, but for some reason we just never got around to going. From what we had read about Moonstone Beach (which is in Humboldt County), it just seemed like a really awesome place to boulder. After all, how many places can you boulder right on the beach with an ocean view? We weren’t disappointed. The bouldering, while relatively easy, was really fun. We also did a nice ride through the redwood forest along the Avenue of the Giants in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. The original plan was to ride the Comptche Loop in Mendocino on our way back, but those plans didn’t quite pan out. I was, however, able to ride a really nice stretch of Hwy 1 on our last day. We’ll have to save Comptche Loop for another trip; there’s so much to do in Mendocino that we’ll definitely head back sometime. Here are the pics and vids from the trip.

Judy and I haven’t gone on any trips in a while, but we’ve stayed really busy. Judy sold her piano (Craigslist rocks!) because she just didn’t have the time to play it much and it was taking up a lot of space in our little abode. With the piano gone, our living room is much more spacious! As mentioned in prior posts, we both bought road bikes and started road biking. My goal was to ride at least once a week to work and I’ve been more or less successful with that. Dave and Andrew visited on separate occasions from SD and I took them on some fun road rides. I’ve come to like road biking, but the problem is that with limited time, I’m often torn between road biking and mountain biking.
